URBAN LANDSCAPE MANAGEMENT SERIES: Assessing Hazard Trees in Urban Landscapes
This session will provide an introduction to Tree Risk Assessment and Hazard Tree determination. You will learn what makes a tree likely to fail (fall down or break) and how you can recognize important defects in a tree.


Subject Matter Expert: Alan Haywood, CPH, ISA Certified
For thirty years, Alan worked for the City of Issaquah Parks and Recreation Department, supervising the maintenance staff and projects, developing the annual work-plan, and managing the division budget. He oversaw the Tree City USA program, and coordinated the landscape aspects of all city projects. Haywood has a Bachelor of Science in Horticulture  from Washington State University, and studied at Pacific Northwest Maintenance Management School , National Recreation and Parks Association and Community Tree Management Institute - Washington State Department of Natural Resources.  He is a Certified Arborist - Municipal Specialist  Certified Professional Horticulturist; Tree Risk Analysis Qualification – ISA; Public Pesticide Applicator License; Certified Parks and Recreation Professional; and holds an Integrated Pest Management Certificate from WSU. In addition, he is an instructor at Green River Community College and serves on the ISA Education Committee.
