Bugs of Spring - WSNLA PROseries Webinar

Sharon Collman is emeritus professor, WSU Extension.  She will cover the insects to watch for as you move through your landscapes, nurseries. and gardens this spring. Recognition and early detection will allow you to determine whether you can ignore it for now or if you need to take action to prevent damage (maybe just a snip of the pruners to remove a caterpillar tent; or leave it, it’s one of the good bugs).  Included will be some of the new invasive insects to watch for such as spotted lanternfly, European chafer, Japanese beetle and lily leaf beetle. Inform yourself to be about to identify new invasive species in your neighborhood and throughout your community.

Sharon Collman has been photographing, learning and teaching about Washington insects, plant problem diagnosis, and IPM for an undisclosed number of years. She was one of the founding members of the Master Gardener Program, taught volunteers to support county clinics in King and Snohomish counties, and more. She has authored over 75 extension publications and magazine articles and won numerous awards for her writing and educational programs.
