The WSNLA Leadership Awards are a peer-to-peer recognition program. Nursery and landscape professionals, businesses and programs are nominated throughout the year. Nominations are reviewed and selected by the WSNLA Executive Committee in November. All award recipients are honored at the Northwest Green Industry Conference held in January of each year. SUPPLIER OF THE YEAR

2016 Recipient: Mary Ranahan  |  Cedar Grove Compost
Criterion: Hardgood or non-plant supplier who has shown an above average support of the Association, the industry and the members. The award is to the person, not the company.

 

 

EDUCATOR OF THE YEAR

2016 Recipient: Chris Sexton-Smith, CPH   |  Lake Washington Institute of Technology
Criterion: Given for meritorious service in any "education" function serving the industry. Has been awarded to Cooperative Extension personnel, due to the strong education mission of that organization and its staff.

 


ENVIRONMENTAL EXCELLENCE AWARD

2016 Recipient: Washington Tree Recovery Program Partnership
Megan Pulkkinen, CPH  |  Kirsten Lints, CPH  |  Kirsten Cook, Okanogan Conservation District  |  Abbie Eisenhart, Arbor Day Foundation  |  Sarah Brooks, Methow Conservancy
Criterion: This award goes to a person or company that significantly improved, protected or repaired the environment through the use of plants and proper horticultural practices." The award can be given to a person or firm within or outside of the nursery and landscape industry.

 

 

CULTIVATING COMMUNITY AWARD

2016 Recipient: Kirsten Lints, CPH  |  Gardens ALIVE Design
Criterion: This award is given to a new or established WSNLA member for involvement that has provided notable service in cultivating the WSNLA community, and supporting our organizational mission.

 


RAY SWANSON "MEMBER OF THE YEAR" AWARD

2016 Recipient: Everett Chu, CPH, EPC  |  Azusa Farm & Gardens
Criterion: In the tradition of Ray Swanson, given to a member who has rendered outstanding service to the WSNLA and the industry during the year just past.

 


JERRY ROSSO "INVOLVEMENT" AWARD

2016 Recipient: Robert Andre  |  Ogden Murphy Wallace
Criterion: In the tradition of Jerry Rosso, given to a member who has demonstrated consistent commitment and involvement over the long term.

  

 

BRUCE BRIGGS "LEGISLATIVE LEADERSHIP" AWARD

Criterion: In the tradition of Bruce Briggs, given to a member who has shown leadership in supporting and actively involved in the legislative arena.

 

 

HONORARY LIFETIME MEMBER

Criterion: Goes to an individual who, having been an active member, performed some outstanding service to the field of horticulture or in the interest of the industry.

 


HAROLD YOUNG "LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT" AWARD

2016 Jerry Rosso, CPH  |  Rosso Gardens, retired 
Criterion: Given to a member who has demonstrated exemplary service to the WSNLA and the industry on an ongoing basis.
