Subject: Minutes of NC Chapter Meeting
The North Central Chapter of the WSNLA met on 2/28/07 at the Applewood Grill in Wenatchee. The meeting opened at 7:05 PM by Chapter President Bob Orach.
Those in attendance included staff from Van Well Nursery, C & O Nursery, Columbia Basin Nursery; Washington Dept. of Agriculture was represented by Tom Wessels & Cindy Cooper, The Canadian Dept. of Ag. was represented by Jacki Dekker & Carol Chimery, Jeanne McNeil of WSNLA was also present.
Reports: Old Business
WSNLA President Peter Van Well reported that the chapter checking account has $347.00 and the savings has $159.00 in them.
New Business
Peter discussed the scholarship program and the reasons for the 3% dues increase for all the members. Pete also reported on the new health insurance program that is now available to the members.
Jeanne McNeil fielded questions concerning the scholarship program. She also discussed the utility certificate program. She talked and opened the floor for discussion on the current legislative issues as they pertain to our members, re: AIA vs. Designers. She pointed out the importance of having a presence when these issues arise and the value of WSNLA’s ongoing commitment to overseeing issues that impact us all.
Tom Wessels from WSDA commented that 4 employees of WSDA went through the CPH program and they were quite impressed with the quality of it.
P. ramorum was discussed , host vs. non-host, Nursery clarified & the ramifications.
WSDA & CDA: Much discussion & questions on permitting & border crossing as they pertain to trees. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:29 PM.
